This may be the best news you've heard all day. The unions are upset with Democrats and they are threatening to stay home this November. The latest failure to confirm labor lawyer Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board has the unions really torqued. Between this, the failure of Democrats to pass card check legislation, and the failure of the healthcare bill (which included a sweetheart deal for unions) ... they are wondering why they worked so hard to get Democrats elected in 2008.
So now we watch the Democrats squirm. We also watch the closed-door meetings that happen in regards to this latest jobs bill. Will the Democrats be willing to risk adding labor-friendly provisions in the latest bill, in order to appease the unions?
Unions have screwed things up so badly, not only for their members but for our economy, that you don't mind seeing them take it in the teeth every once in a while. Yesterday I stood in a long line at a bank behind some character wearing his pipefitter's union jacket. Typical. He thinks he works for the union. You gotta wonder if he really knows who signs his paychecks.
